Can I choose a shorter term?
In many cases, yes — a shorter term is one option to discuss with your loan originator.
Depending on your loan and eligibility, you may be able to choose a shorter remaining term instead of a full new 30-year term. A shorter term generally means a higher required monthly payment but less total interest over the life of the loan. Your loan originator can walk through which terms are available for your specific transaction.
